Pro series - 1st February 2024 Spiceworks Originals.I think the real issue here is that most installation processes aren't designed to be appealing to techs and the general public probably doesn't care. I suppose that does solve the problem for the most part. This also works as a good way to let you know the system isn't frozen. Personally I like the program installs where you get multiple progress bars, one showing the overall progress and one showing the specific tasks being done. I totally agree with everything you've said. Regarding the wildly inaccurate time remaining, why can't we just have text telling me how much data has been copied into place versus how much is left? If you have 400MB to move around, just tell me how much of that we've accomplished. I think perhaps a progress bar that stays true to 100% being completed, but that has another bar or graphic inside the part showing how much is completed that moves to show me that it hasn't stopped doing something. I need it to tell me that the computer hasn't locked up, perhaps an estimate (however wildly inaccurate) of time remaining, and how much is left. It can't be hard to design something that works better. ![]()
